chris + laura’s wedding at the glen manor, portsmouth ri

Laura and Chris may not have had blue skies for their wedding day, but the soft greyness definitely added an element of romance! Laura took our {and everyone else’s} breath away in her amazing gown and fabulous bird cage veil. She’s truly stunning and just as kind and sweet as she is beautiful. We took a little stroll around the block near Salve Regina University to get the opulent Newport vibe, with the ornate gates and stone work surrounding the property. Laura’s lush florals were created by Flowers by Semia. Who knew there were so many fantastic blooms in shades of purple?! Champagne and fawn were the primary color palette, but the pops of deep purple really gave everything a richness. Russell Morin Catering provided the delicious menu, linens and rentals. Jennifer Hodge of Spectrum Make-up and Lynda Williams of Formal Hair Design were on hand for all things beauty. Laura’s gown is Romona Keveza, Shoes are Jimmy Choo and accessories from Saks.

Special thanks to Jennifer Brinton who coordinated the day so beautifully!

erin + pete’s wedding at the acoaxet club, westport ma

Pete and his family have been vacationing in Westport since Pete was little. His parents were married at the Howland House, where Pete and his groomsmen stayed and got ready. The guest register at the Howland House dates back to 1904, and Pete’s parents signed it when they were married there in 1982. Pete and Erin recreated his parents signature and added their own to the same guest register! {see photos below}. Trish also recreated a photo that is hanging inside the Howland House with Pete and the groomsmen.

Pete and Erin got ready next door to each other, but chose not to see each other until after the ceremony. The photos of the men and the photos of the ladies were taken at he same time and only steps from each other.  When we photograph a wedding, we sync our cameras so that the photos fall into chronological order when they are all loaded into the computer. The photo of Pete below looking in the mirror to adjust his bow tie was taken at the exact same moment that Erin was looking in the mirror to apply her lipstick. An adorable coincidence!

Little Compton & Westport are magical and there is no shortage of scenic little vignettes for photo-ing. The field where we ended up shooting Pete and Erin’s portraits was a stones throw from the Acoaxet Club. It wasn’t part of the original plan, but we spied it on the way to the church and just had to stop on our way back.

Erin’s dad gave a toast about how Erin and Pete’s paths kept crossing without them really connecting. He said that Erin even had a photo in her apartment that Pete was in the background of before they became a couple. The punchline was that Pete was on the edge of the photo and actually covered up by the frame. We can’t help but think of how Pete will be front and center of all Erin’s photos from now on, starting with the wedding photos!

astrid + tommy’s wedding, private estate newport ri

Tommy and Astrid had the most beautiful spring day for their wedding. It really was perfect, just what you’d imagine if you pictured yourself breezing around a stunning Newport venue in your very glamorous Amsale wedding gown… debonnaire husband by your side, all wrapped up with champagne and kisses. Sound good? We thought so! Personal touches abound… especially the little chapel where Astrid and Tommy were married {Astrid’s dad had helped to build it many years ago} and a lovingly restored antique truck {by the bride’s brother} to serve as the sparkler send off/ get away car. We must put a plug in for Astrid and Tommy’s band, they were absolutely phenomenal and made the party such a blast. Looking for an amazing band? Check out Sweet Tooth and the Sugar Babies.

A few more of the vendors who made the day so wonderful.. Jennifer Hodge from Spectrum Makeup, Cherry Hill Florist, and Dessert Works.

astrid + tommy’s rehearsal dinner at the chinese tea house {preservation society of newport & marble house}

We were so excited to learn that Astrid and Tommy were planning their rehearsal at the Chinese Tea House. We’ve walked by the tea house so many times on the Cliff Walk and have always wanted to photograph a party there. We were even more excited to learn that they were having the  Brown University Lion Dance team preform for their guests. They are phenomenal! Plantation Catering of Newport  provided the delicious menu. It was a festive and fun evening, the perfect kick off to a great weekend.
