ask the snappers…

dear snappers,

i’m having a hard time figuring out the timing for the beginning of my wedding day. in particular, when the bridesmaids should be done with hair and makeup and dressed to go.

i don’t want to ask anyone to be ready too early, but i don’t want to be rushing at the last minute either! help!

thank you,

dear ticked,

we get asked this question a lot! when we arrive to start the “getting ready” photographs (usually 1-2 hours before the ceremony) the bridesmaids should all have their hair and makeup finished. the bride should be having her finishing touches applied for hair and makeup as we are photographing the shoes, dress, and bouquet. then, the bridesmaids should all get dressed so that when it’s time for the bride to get into her gown they are already finished dressing. This way, all the ladies will look their prettiest in the background of the photos while they are helping the bride. Casual tank tops and shorts, while comfy, can ruin a pretty shot of the bride having her buttons done up or her veil adjusted. the uniformity of the bridesmaids dresses makes the getting ready photos have a clean, polished look to them. ditto goes for the mob and mog- make sure they are ready if they are helping too! oh, and just an extra piece of advice… we love matching robes as a gift for the bridesmaids- it’s functional yet fashionable and makes for a super cute photo!

cheers,

the snappers
